Here is some relevant text from that article: Ms. Afshin-Jam MacKay went on to criticize the Guardian for referring to her as “the Defence Minister’s wife,” saying she told Mr. Day numerous times that she is tired of seeing her own name left out of interviews.
Apparently the headline writer could have done with reading the whole article.
Also! The reporter said he identified Ms. Afshin-Jam MacKay as the Defence Minister’s wife because, in Canada, that is the status that gives her the highest recognition, not the fact that she is a former Miss World Canada or a human rights activist.
That is some sexist bullshit right there. Nazanin Afshin-Jam was a very well known activist before she married a politician, which is why it made headlines. How does a British journalist know what status she is recognized for in Canada? He obviously does not.
